Primary hyperhidrosis, for instance, is believed to be caused by inherited overactive sweat glands. On the other hand, secondary hyperhidrosis is thought to result from underlying medical conditions such as diabetes, thyroid issues, and menopause. How effective is Botox for hyperhidrosis? Botox has been proven to be highly effective for treating hyperhidrosis. A single treatment can provide relief for up to 6 months, with some patients experiencing relief for up to a year.
